It's some kind of function. Something formal. She is in a black evening dress, hair falling down her back. The table she sits at, is by the wall of an L shaped room, almost like a wide corridor. Looking ahead she can see further down the room, where people are standing and talking. To her right, there may be a long bar, while to her left, there are more tables, that run down the long expanse into the distance. There is a hubbub of overlapping conversations that fill the space. It is softly lit on the opposite wall, with the amber glow of recessed lighting. The other 3 people at her table remain undefined, but, she feels comfortable with them.

Then, she is walking down a familiar street. Pushing a bicycle on the pavement. The bicycle seems old, like something from the 50's. It's a summer day. Warm, soft breeze, ripples her thin dress. Her legs are silhouetted as the sun shines through. There is no hint of a destination. More a memory than anything.

The man holds her in a passionate embrace. They are making love. It is no-one in particular. It matters not. There is not even the feeling of physical touch. All the energy is in the charged atmosphere. As they kiss, bodies pressed together, the eroticism comes from the glow inside and out. Like being wrapped in eternal warmth and peace.

It seems like her birthday. People hand her gifts to unwrap. her best friend, who she does not recognize, gives her a parcel. Inside is a board full of rings. Every one of them in uniquely stunning. It's almost overwhelming. Fighting back tears, she gazes upon the rows of delight. It seems too much. She wants to protest and exclaim that these must have been expensive. There are 40 plus to choose from. She picks one from the board. It has an off-centre silver inlay flowered pattern on a flattenned, polished blue stone. Delicate and intricate, the slivers of reflective metal catch the light. Slipping it on her right pinkie, it fits perfectly, and could quite possibly be the most beautiful thing she has ever seen.

Becoming aware of the noise of the street outside, then the sunlight sneaking through the windows edge, her eyes slowly open. Awake, and knowing there will be no more dreams, she gets out of bed, and starts getting ready for the day.
